London, UK: Tahina, the London-based food-tech start-up merging fresh food with autonomous retail has shared its long-term ambition to build a £100M+ business as it prepares for its next stage of growth. With customers increasingly choosing healthier, faster and more affordable meals, Tahina believes the timing has never been better for a new kind of QSR brand.
The company is currently raising £1.5M–£2M (SEIS/EIS approved) to open its flagship London store and expand its cashierless technology, a system designed to make picking up food as effortless as possible. The store will run on Tahina’s two core strengths: autonomous retail systems and a central production kitchen that keeps quality high and costs under control.
A key driver behind Tahina’s confidence is its technology-led operational model, which brings together autonomous checkout technology and centralised production to completely rethink traditional fast-casual economics. The autonomous retail system uses advanced sensors, machine learning and real-time inventory tracking to enable a queue-free experience that reduces in-store labour needs by up to 67% while maintaining 99%+ billing accuracy. This is supported by Tahina’s central kitchen, which ensures consistent quality, lowers food costs and allows stores to operate with smaller teams and more efficient footprints.
“Our purpose has always been simple, make eating well easy for everyone,” said Javier Troitino-Ramos, Co-Founder and Operations Lead. “The traditional fast-food model is under huge pressure. Costs are rising, staff shortages are constant, and customers expect much more than they used to. Tahina gives the industry a way forward.”
Co-Founder Emilio Malik added: “People want fresh, sustainable meals without paying premium prices or waiting in queues. That’s where Tahina thrives. With our technology and production model, we’re confident we can grow into a £100M+ brand over the next decade.”
Riding the wave of food-tech transformation
The global fast-food market is worth $980B, and UK consumers spent £245B on food and beverages last year alone. Yet most QSR operators continue to struggle with labour costs, slow service and tight margins.
Tahina’s model offers an alternative:
Autonomous checkout that cuts in-store labour needs by up to 67%
A central kitchen that delivers consistent quality across locations
Technology that improves forecasting, reduces waste and boosts accuracy
Fresh, chef-developed food offered at prices 20–30% below premium competitors
A clear path for growth
Over the next three years, Tahina aims to open 10+ locations and pass £10M in revenue, supported by the launch of the Tahina Capsule, a modular, autonomous food unit designed for places like offices, universities, hospitals and event venues.
