MiPhi, a recently launched joint venture (JV) between India’s Micromax and Taiwanese company Phison, on Monday (February 17, 2025) launched its first consumer product, the Storm 1100X external SSD in India. The storage solution targets creators, gamers, and professionals.
The Storm 1100X SSD is compatible with Windows XP and later, Mac OS 10.8 and later, and Linux kernel 2.4.10 and later.
The Storm 1100X has a sequential read speed of 1100 MB/s and write speeds of 1000 MB/s.
It comes with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with transfer speed up to 10Gbps while having backward compatibility with USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 2.0, and USB 1.1.
The Storm 1100X can withstand 2-meter drop protection, as claimed. It also incorporates LDPC ECC error correction, and has a built-in thermal sensor that optimises temperature.
The SSD can manage within a temperature range of 0 to 70℃ and can withstand storage conditions from -40 to 85℃, with humidity resistance of 20% to 90%, as being claimed.
The MiPhi Storm 1100X external SSD in 1 TB variant costs ₹12,999 ($150). It is available on Amazon. The 2TB variant will be launched soon, the company said. The SSD comes with 5-year warranty.
