Meta’s Instagram app and Spotify are investigating a more comprehensive music integration.

According to recent discoveries, the businesses are testing a function that would enable users to share their current musical selections on Instagram Notes on a regular basis.

Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who frequently discovers unreleased features while they’re still in development, was the first to notice the new functionality.

Though businesses like Meta and Spotify frequently test new ideas, the discovery does not guarantee that the feature will be made available to the general public anytime soon.

Paluzzi posted a screenshot of a new feature that would let users “continuously share” their Spotify music rather than picking a track from Instagram’s library on Meta’s Threads.

“You can stop sharing at any time,” the message also indicates.

If it goes live, the feature would expand upon an Instagram feature that was introduced a little more than a year ago—namely, the ability to share 30-second music videos to Notes.

Instagram users can share their status updates and other brief updates in a message that shows up directly above their Instagram inbox by using Notes, which were introduced in 2022.

At the time of Notes’ launch, the company stated that the song clips were supported in all global markets where Instagram possesses music licensing rights.

Instagram could post songs automatically, giving its users access to content even when they were actively using another app by collaborating with Spotify.
