Know: How to set-up computer to auto-restart after power outage

Power outages are potentially the most dangerous thing that can happen to your computer, other than malware and viruses.

In order to restart your computer automatically after a power outage, you will need to set your BIOS to auto-reboot. To accomplish this, you must access the BIOS settings during the boot process (while starting the computer).

Here’s how you can do it:

1.  Save any work you have open and restart your computer.

2. A message advising you which key to press to access the BIOS setup will appear during the boot process. On computer, common keys are F1, F2, F12, or Delete. Press the corresponding key quickly to boot up the BIOS before the operating system loads.

3. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through the menus in the BIOS setup utility. Search for the sections labeled “Advanced,” “Power Management,” or “Boot Options.”

4. There should be a reboot or restart option under the Power Management or Boot Options section. The precise language may change based on the version of your BIOS. Seek for phrases such as “Power-On After Power Failure,” “Auto Restart,” or “Automatic Reboot.”

5. Make sure to select the auto-reboot option and set it to “Enabled” or “On.” Once more, the precise procedures might differ based on your BIOS version, so carefully follow the on-screen instructions.

6. After turning on auto-reboot, select the option to save your modifications and close the BIOS setup tool. This usually means hitting a key, like F10, to exit and save changes.

7. Allow your computer to restart. Now that you have made the modifications in the BIOS setup, your computer should restart automatically based on the settings you selected.

Note – It’s crucial to remember that changing or accessing BIOS settings may affect your computer’s stability and performance. Ensure that you are familiar with using the BIOS setup utility and pay close attention to any on-screen instructions. Consult your computer’s user manual or ask an experienced person for help if you’re not sure how to modify the BIOS settings.
