In addition to updating all Google TV devices, the tech giant is also announcing the release of Google TV Streamer, a new set-top streaming box. This includes a new sports page, AI-powered screensavers, a home panel for controlling smart home appliances, and more.
The company unveiled a number of new features on Monday to improve its Google TV platform. The first of these is a new home panel that serves as a command center for smart home devices that are compatible, like security cameras, lights, and thermostats.
In order to see who’s at the front door without pausing what they’re watching, users can also access new doorbell notifications. Moreover, users can operate their devices hands-free with Google Assistant voice commands in case they lose the remote.
The Quick Settings menu contains the home panel, which opens as a feed on the right side of the screen. Fans can access live and upcoming game streams, sports commentary, YouTube highlights, and personalized recommendations based on their interests all in one location by visiting the new sports page under the For You tab.
Additionally, Google TV is getting a number of AI features, such as the capacity to create unique screensaver artwork in response to an input. Google is using Gemini to power its “Overviews” feature for listings, which offers succinct summaries of popular shows and movies, season-by-season breakdowns, and audience reviews. Gemini was first introduced for the Google TV Streamer.
