AI-generated ‘fake obituaries’ on internet, here’s how to identify

Obituaries are a vital part of grieving for a lot of individuals. They hold memorial services and inform the community about the deceased person’s passing.

Artificial intelligence can now create many kinds of content, including obituaries, thanks to recent technological advancements.

AI-generated content can occasionally be a useful tool for friends and family who are having emotional difficulties coming up with a written remembrance, but it also comes with some strange, even unsettling issues.

Since late 2023, there has been an increase in erroneous fake obituaries produced by AI.

Some websites generate online traffic through the use of fake obituaries that are generated by AI, which is inaccurate.

These websites employ search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to make sure their story appears first when someone searches for information about a death on Google, according to the technology website ‘The Verge.’

The sites can make more money from their advertisers the more people who view the content. These dubious websites offer articles on a range of subjects.

The articles are usually badly written and don’t provide a lot of background on the subject. Instead, they employ attention-grabbing headlines to entice visitors to the website and recurrent keywords for SEO.
