On June 18, Nvidia overtook tech giant Microsoft to become the most valuable company in the world.

In just a few days, the chipmaker’s shares surged 3% to $135.21, increasing its market capitalization to $3 trillion, surpassing Apple, the maker of iPhones, to take the second position in terms of value.

In contrast to Microsoft shares, which have increased by roughly 19% this year, the stock of Nvidia increased by roughly 173% thus far.

The person who made it possible is none other than the co-founder of the company, Jensen Huang.

Early Life & Career

1. Jensen Huang was born in Taiwan and when he was 9 years old his family emigrated to the United States

2. He completed his graduation degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University in 1984 and master’s from Stanford University in 1992

3. He co-founded NVIDIA with Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem in 1993

4. NVIDIA went public in 1999 at $12/share, where Jensen Huang owned 3.6% of NVIDIA stock

5. In 2007, Forbes ranked him as the 61st highest paid US CEO, he earned $24.6 million that year

6. In 2020, he was named ‘Supplier CEO of the year’ by Eurostars AutomotiveNewsEurope
