Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, who makes $695,00 a year, comes in second in the list. In 1997, as Hong Kong was being transferred from the United Kingdom to the People’s Republic of China, his role was established to take the place of the governor of Hong Kong, who served as the king’s envoy.

Viola Amherd, the president of Switzerland, holds the third position.

Fourth on the list with an annual salary of $400,000 is US President Joe Biden.
